It’s been awhile, allow me to reintroduce myself!

Hi, I’m Savanna Mehrad, the passionate human being behind this blog. The face behind the brand, so to say. If you’re one of our original followers, it’s been while! Sorry for ghosting on you – oops!

Seeing as the last post here is from almost six years ago, it’s safe to say a lot of changes have gone on in my life.

Last time I checked in, I had just had our first daughter, Annabelle. Fast-forward two years later to 2018 and our second daughter, Estelle (or Stella as we fondly refer to her), was added to the mix, completing our family. Having two girls, two years apart has been a whirlwind – so much more on all of that later.

I also launched and managed a successful silicone & craft supply store called Chomp Supply for just over 4 years. In September 2019, Chomp Supply expanded, moving into a bricks-and-mortar location in Thorold, Ontario, where it was joined by our second business, Femme Wares, in February 2020. Femme Wares was an absolute dream come true, a real passion project for me. It was a culmination of my favourite things and my favourite female owned small shops – heaven, really.

Sadly, both of our businesses were severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic that swept the world in March of 2020 and we were forced to endure the closure of both businesses throughout the year. It was utterly heartbreaking and is something that we’re still navigating through to this day.

Throughout this time, I’ve also journeyed through various mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety and, most recently, a long awaited diagnosis of borderline personality disorder traits. This fun grab bag of mental health conditions makes each day different and eventful, but through a combination of mainstream medication and self-healing tools such as meditation, CBT & DBT techniques, counselling, body movement and creating a life of greater presence and intention, I have been able to slowly build a life that I truly love.

My plan is to breathe new life back into this space, sharing my self-healing journey with you all in an effort to help you along your own. Expect real, raw, unfiltered views into my life and deep, meaningful conversations that truly make a difference in your life. I want to have impact on you, your journey and your soul’s path and this blog is how I feel called to do that right now.

I sincerely hope you enjoy this new path as it unfolds and choose to be an active part of the journey. I look forward to building a rich, vibrant and supportive community of women who truly love, uplift and encourage one another to be their best selves.

Hello! Welcome to the! My name is Savanna and I'm so excited that you've decided to stop by and check out my little blog.

This blog started out as a journey of living adventurously in the kitchen, trialing gluten free, vegan, whole food recipes that you and your whole family can enjoy.

Fast forward a few years and I've chosen to breath new life into it, this time, focus on my mental health journey, sharing the tools, resources and practices that continue to help me on my self-healing path.

  1. Hello Samantha. I found your website via a Google search for chicken wings! Then I read your story. I am so, so sorry that you and your husband lost your businesses. Must have been terribly stressful! Also, I know about mental illness. Lifelong struggles with depression, anxiety. Now some panic attacks, at night. And some symptoms off ADD. Many people just don’t understand how very challenging it is to live with mental illness. I would love to hear about your healing journey, both the good days, and not so good ones. Thank you for your candor and being real!
